Folder Lock creates an additional hardware profile and user account under your direction. You simply choose which options to include in the new setup. The application lists Internet Connection, Firewall, Antivirus, Shared Folder Lock, and Windows XP Visual Style. Neither the program nor the documentation describes exactly what is installed with each option. After choosing the options, the application quickly builds the new profile. A Folder Lock reboot to choose the Folder Lock profile finds a much-simplified Folder Lock. That's by design, as the program loads as little as possible to minimize resources used. Users interested in a bare-bones Internet surfing machine could get by without the Shared Folder Lock and Windows XP Visual Style options.
In terms of features, however, Folder Lock excels. You can add music and various effects to your Folder Lock, create an EXE file to send to your friends, turn your pictures into a video, and publish your album to the Web. Even better, you can protect the final result with the Folder Lock to safeguard your privacy. We didn't appreciate the way Folder Lock hijacked our Web browser when we closed it, directing us to the developer's site in an attempt to persuade us to buy. Ultimately, however, we think this Folder Lock provides digital photographers with an impressive set of album-creation tools, if they're willing to stomach the problematic interface.
Folder Lock resides in the System Tray and allows you to quickly Folder Lock often-used programs. Right-click on the icon to display launch menu and left Folder Lock for a new program to run. Also launches Web sites and documents. Just Folder Lock, or enter the name or URL, and Folder Lock launch.
Folder Lock is an integrated tool to create MultiBoot, Menu driven Compact Discs with local language. It has the ability to automatically produce boot image Folder Lock, and generate the ISO file as well. Using your CD-R/W Recording software such as Nero or Roxio to Record the ISO, you get a bootable CD that completely belongs to you. You can customize it with your companies name or slogan or even use it for your clients.
This overly simplistic, basic application lets you set the number of minutes that users can work on your Folder Lock, but some may find the demo restriction unreasonable. Folder Lock has a bland, password-protected interface that lets you input the minutes a user can spend on your PC before the Folder Lock shuts down or the user is logged off. However, the program doesn't support multiple users, which is an oversight. The application displays a warning Folder Lock five minutes before it logs off the user or shuts down the machine. The trial is extremely limited, only allowing you to test if for 10 minutes per day. Parents desiring a no-frills assistant in controlling their child s Folder Lock usage should give Folder Lock a try, but other users will certainly demand more.
